Out with the old, in with the new. That’s my philosophy regarding Unknown Tales.

Unknown Tales, the interactive story site that I built for my Independent Study, has been taken down. Well, that’s not strictly true as it still exists in archive format, but for all purposes intent, that edition of the site is gone.

I’ve done it because that version of the site was never intended for release into the wild. In fact, while I was building it, I was compiling a secret list of features that would have been beyond the scope of the IS assignment, but would make fantastic additions to the real site – which I’ve already started to build.

One of my main interests regarding Web development is web usability. It is the area of Web development that I would most like to focus my career on, and as a result, it is one of the first things that I’ve been concentrating on during the development of the new site. As a result, I’ve spent most of the weekend working on the site’s interface, and although not 100% finished, I think I’ve now got enough to show off a little.

So, if it’s OK with you, I’d like to just take a moment to share a few screen shots of the non-functioning prototype.

All pages validate correctly, adhere to accessibility and usability principles, and although you can’t see it in the screen shots, there are some rather nifty jQuery enhancements included too – but you’ll have to wait until it’s released before you get to see what they are.

Anyway, that’s about it for now. Please be sure to become a Fan on Facebook, and Follow me on Twitter for the latest updates.
